School is important for general education, but in the U.S.A. it's too general. Even if all you want to do is become a scientist, you are still forced to take subjects that are irrelevant to your goal. Or, if you want to becomea craftsman, you are still forced to take subjects that I can guarentee you will never use. Students should have more options as far as their education goes.

It's important as a stepping stone to get into college. Looking at how you are in high school will help colleges determine if you're the kind of student they want to accept. And going to college is important if you want a good job that pays well. It's not necessary for some jobs, but it is if you want to become a lawyer or a doctor, both of which can pay extremely well.
